Connecticut State Police said on Tuesday that Willimantic Police were called to a scene on Gem Drive to investigate a possible assault case. When they arrived, they found a female victim dead inside the home.
There was also reason to believe that the suspect was still in the home but couldn’t make contact. They then sent in a robot to check the scene from inside the home in order to not put any officers at risk or in any type of jeopardy.
When the police felt it was safe to enter the home, they also found the suspect dead.
Police did state they felt that this was an isolated incident and that there was no harm to the public.
Windham Schools were sheltered in place during the event, but were able to dismiss schools as normal.
The case is still under investigation with updates to follow. No names were released at initial presser.
